growing up, my family didn’t have a tv or wifi, no video games or computers. my entertainment was a coloring pad and an unlimited amount of art supplies. i have always loved to be creative, and i tried to flourish in that field as much as possible. in high school, i flourished, discovering my love for pottery and darkroom photography. both are unpredictable mediums, which i love because of the unknown outcome.

how long have you created art?

what is your biggest challenge as an artist?

the biggest challenge is myself. no matter how many art mediums i know or how many pieces i create, i never feel good enough to call myself an artist. i am just someone who makes art. never feeling like i am enough leads to an unlimited amount of burnout and a lack of motivation to continue. it’s always an ongoing battle between mind and body, frustration and patience, understanding and accepting.

in the art world, a perfect piece doesn’t exist. the word perfect is not achievable, as nothing in this world is perfect. it took me a very long time to realize that as an artist. i would chase after something that i physically could never do. when a piece is “perfect” to me is when i can look at it and be proud of myself.

what makes a piece perfect?
